How to download a video from Facebook

Though you can save Facebook articles to watch later, you should consider downloading videos from your news feed. You can download Facebook videos from your feed to your device in just a few simple steps, whether it’s a how-to video you want to save for later or a hilarious video you want to share with friends.

This method only works on Facebook.com and not on the app, so you’ll need to go to Facebook.com first. Then, when you’ve found the video you want to save, go to Share > Copy Link.

A little box will appear with the video’s URL. Copy the link and paste it into a new tab or the address bar of your browser. Then, in the address, replace www with mbasic. If the video’s URL is https://www.facebook.com/Benostech/videos/593414421380089, for example, you need to change it to https://mbasic.facebook.com/Benostech/videos/593414421380089.

When you’re finished, press Enter on your keyboard. This converts the address to a basic interface address for mobile devices, allowing you to download the movie. If you’ve done everything correctly, the screen will appear to be trying to open the Facebook app in your browser.

Then, from the menu, right-click on the video and select Open Link In New Tab. The video won’t have any Facebook features like comments or a like button in the new tab. There will just be a video.

Right-click the video and choose Save Video As… from the menu that appears. Then, as you would with any other movie or photo, save it to your computer. You can open the video in your usual video player when it has been saved on your computer.

How to download a Facebook video from the app

It’s a little more difficult to download Facebook videos through the app than from a PC, but it’s possible. To begin, you’ll need to download a third-party program to your phone that adds more features to the Facebook app. We utilized the Friendly for a Facebook app for this demonstration.

The app will prompt you to log into your Facebook account when you download it. The app will then launch Facebook, making it appear as if you’re using the genuine Facebook app.

Tap the cloud arrow icon towards the top of the app to find the video you wish to download. Tap the Videos option from the pop-up menu, then tap the download sign next to the video you wish to save. That’s all there is to it; the video will be downloaded and saved to your phone
