Kevin Hart's Quibi show is getting a second season with Roku

KELVIN HART: Before fading out last year, Quibi, the short-lived, short-form mobile streaming service, wasn’t known for producing a lot of amazing material.

Some of the episodes, notably Kevin Hart’s Die Hart, were resurrected after Quibi sold its collection to Roku for $100 million. Roku has now revealed that it has bought the second season of Die Hart, which will be named Die Harter, according to Variety.

On May 20th, Roku re-released Die Hart, along with 30 other ex-Quibi “Originals.” This is the second time the show has been renewed, as it was picked up for a second season at Quibi in September before the service shut down.

Roku, on the other hand, claims to have a reach of approximately 70 million people in the United States alone, whereas Quibi had only 710,000 subscriber homes at its peak.

Die Hart was the most popular of the 30 shows released (including The Fugitive, Die Hart, Chrissy’s Court, Dismantled, and the Emmy-winning #FreeRayshawn), according to Roku. However, as is customary with streaming services, the business did not share watching data for any of the series.

Hart, John Travolta, Nathalie Emmanuel, Josh Hartnett, and Jean Reno appeared in the first season of Die Hart (which had ten episodes, each lasting 7-9 minutes) (casting for the second season has yet to be finalized).

After being restricted to humorous supporting roles in the first season, Hart played a fictionalized version of himself as an actor who wants to be an action star. To realize his dream, Johnny must train with a psychotic commander (John Travolta) in an action star academy in a series of stunning action sequences.

Colin Davis, Roku’s president of original scripted content, stated, “We couldn’t be more delighted to present an equally hilarious, action-packed second season to the record amount of fans who have watched in recent days.” The release date for the second season has yet to be announced.
